Juicing for Health: Get Started Today!

Health Benefits of Juicing

Juicing is a great way to counter our fast-paced, stressed-out lifestyles and promote health. We are inundated with poor, processed food choices and a rushed and frantic lifestyle that has wreaked havoc on our health. We don’t provide our bodies with the basic nutrition and miracle-working phyto-nutrients they need to survive, let alone thrive.

Personally, I can’t go on long enough about the potential health benefits of juicing. Juicing is one of the many critical components of my own wellness plan that saved my life from a horrible autoimmune illness called MCTD. Without my juicing regimen, I would not be alive today.

The recommendation that we get 6-8 servings of vegetables and fruit is not a joke, it is real. I don’t know anyone who eats that many servings. Even I don’t, but I get it from my raw, organic, “Juice of Life.”

What does juicing do for you?

First, I’m talking about the juice obtained from raw, organic vegetables and fruits using a twin-geared juicer (like the Greenstar 2000, which is what I use) or a press (not a bladed, shredding juicer – that heats up and damages micronutrients).  Many micronutrients are destroyed through cooking, so juicing is a way to get a lot more nutritional bang for your buck. Not to mention, that you can easily juice your 6-8 servings, and much more, into a delicious, life-restoring glass.

The nutrients extracted from the vegetables and fruits are completely bio-available, ready to be absorbed, by your body’s digestive system. In fact, absorption begins in the mouth! This is of great benefit to us, since most people have an impaired digestive system, having eaten poorly for most of their lives.

Another common problem found in people’s diets is that they don’t get enough variety, ensuring a broad range of the nutrition they need will be available. With juicing, you can incorporate all those wild, exotic or strange, nutritious vegetables and fruits that your taste buds never let you eat.

One caveat that I should mention, before you go hog wild with your juicer, is that your juice should consist of about 90% vegetables and 10% fruits. Otherwise, you could be on a fast track for diabetes. And, if you already have diabetes, you should not juice any fruits accept lemons or limes – which actually help neutralize the bitter taste of the beautiful, dark, leafy greens.
